Baahubali on a record breaking spree

Baahubali, which has become the first 1000 crore grossing Indian film in less than 10 days, is continuing it’s record breaking saga at worldwide box office. By making more than 300 percent profit, Baahubali 2 (Hindi) has now set an almost unbreakable record in terms of Return on Investment (RoI).

So far, the Rajamouli directorial has collected 375 crore from the Hindi version alone. It may be noted that the film’s acquisition cost was a mere 90 crore. The trade statistics tell us that the film made a whopping profit of 285 crore , resulting in an unbelievable profit of 317 percent.

Generally, small budget films which prove to be huge surprise money spinners, bring multifold profits. No high budget film has ever become as profitable as Baahubali did. Baahubali 2 is currently just 12 crore short of the lifetime collections of Dangal, 387 crore.

Going by the consistent pace Baahubali is progressing at box office, it is expected to dethrone the Aamir Khan starrer by today to emerge the new domestic highest grosser. The film will be decorated with more records like first 400 crore, 500 crore grosser etc. In coming few days.

Post the stupendous success of Baahubali franchise, actor Prabhas is not only the most sought after artist in film industry, but he is also the next big thing for various brands. Many popular brand makers are keen to rope the macho star to endorse their products.

During one of his recent interviews, Baahubali director SS Rajamouli revealed that Prabhas has turned down a brand endorsement offer worth 10 Crores after the release of Baahubali 1 as he wanted to focus completely on the film’s​ second part. He has only endorsed Mahindra XUV.

According to the latest media reports, Prabhas has now said no to a whopping 18 Crore deal. It is learnt that the actor was recently approached by one of the largest brand makers in India to promote their products, but he has not second thoughts to reject the plump offer.

Close sources to the actor revealed that he wants to concentrate on his upcoming trilingual film Saaho which is being made on a staggering 150 Crore budget. So, he doesn’t want to shift focus onto brands at this moment of his career. Recently, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor made headlines for letting​ go of a 9 Crore endorsement

Yet another talented actor roped in for Savitri biopic

The makers of Savitri biopic are pulling a casting coup of sorts. After bringing on board an eclectic mix of actors like Keerthi Suresh, Samantha and Dulquer Salmaan for important roles, the latest one to be signed up for the project is Pelli Choopulu actor Vijay Devarakonda.

Reportedly, Vijay Devarakonda will be seen in a brief yet crucial role in this film. While Keerthi Suresh will be seen portraying the role of Savitri, Samantha is going to be essaying a journalist’s role. Dulquer Salmaan will play Savitri’s husband in the film.

Titled as Mahanati, the biopic will be helmed by talented director Nag Ashwin. The regular shooting will commence in the next month.

Mahesh Babu’s forthcoming flick Spyder is hitting the headlines since its inception. Sources inform that the movie is on the last leg of the shoot and gearing up to unveil the songs from the movie.

Ongoing reports suggest that the makers of the movie are in plans to host an audio launch event on June 9th. Still, it is unclear as the official announcement is yet to be made by filmmakers.

However, Mahesh Babu’s Spyder teaser is likely to be out on May 31st on the eve of his father Krishna’s Birthday. Spyder is being helmed by AR Murugadoss, features Rakul Preet in the lead role and is slated to release in the month of August. Watch the space for more updates.

India’s big budget flick on cards

Allu Arvind, one of the top producers in the country, has joined hands with Madhu Manthena and Namit Malhotra to bring the epic tale of Ramayana to big screen. The big budget visual spectacle is going to be shot in three languages – Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, and released in three parts.

The film will also be shot in 3D. It has been a long time since Ramayana has been adapted into a film, and Allu Arvind, Madhu Manthena and Namit Malhotra are leaving no stone unturned to live up to the expectations from a film of this scale. It is also being touted as one of the highest budgeted films in India so far.

Talking about the ambitious project, Allu Arvind said, “It’s a huge responsibility, but the Ramayana needs to be told on the big screen in the most magnificent way possible. We are committed to delivering a spectacular extravaganza.” Currently, the team is putting together a terrific team of actors and technicians to make this film on international standards. The shooting is expected to begin in October or November this year. More details about the film will be announced shortly.

Unique title confirmed for Powerstar’s next

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan reunited with his favourite director Trivikram Srinivas for the third time after Jalsa and Attarintiki Daredi. The hit combination is currently working for yet another big budget entertainer which is progressing at a brisk pace in Hyderabad. Happening beauties Keerthi Suresh and Anu Emanuel are playing the female leads. The film is aiming for Dusheera release.

The latest update from film nagar sources is that the team is considering ‘Gokula Krishnudu’ as the film’s title. Also, they are mulling ‘Gopaludu’ as the second option for the title. Though the makers are yet to officially announce the title, sources say that one among these two titles is likely to be finalised very soon.

Earlier, a bunch of titles have been speculated in the media, but the team has rubbished them as rumours. Pawan Kalyan will be seen as a software engineer in the film which will have Trivikram’s trademark elements. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the tunes. S. Radha Krishna is the producer.

Balakrishna signs a new film

Nandamuri Balakrishna has been listening to scripts from the past few months after he wrapped up Gautamiputra Satakarni. After rejecting several films, the actor signed a film in the direction of Puri Jagannadh which left many in surprise.

The actor now signed his next movie which will be helmed by Tamil director KS Ravikumar. After several steps of discussion, the script has been finalized and it will be launched officially during the last week of June. C Kalyan will produce the movie on CK Entertainments banner and the movie will start its regular proceedings from July 10th.

Balakrishna is in plans to wrap up the shoot of Puri Jagannadh’s film at the earliest after which he will join the shoot of his next movie. The film is said to be a mass and action entertainer and will be made on a massive budget. The other cast, crew are being finalized and the movie will be shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil languages.

Venkatapuram is one interesting film that is releasing today. There is a lot of pre-release buzz on the film as the first look posters and the theatrical trailer has impressed us big time. There is an interesting and unique story in the film which came out well. Rahul who made his acting debut with the film Happy Days is making his comeback successfully in the movie. Rahul is hoping that he will register a good hit at the box office with the film Venkatapuram. Mahima is the new girl who is making her acting debut with the film. On a whole, there is some good buzz on the film and let us check out the review on the film.

Story:

Anand (Rahul) is an interesting guy who is very casual and happy going. He works for a US Pizza shop as a delivery guy. When life is going good, Chaitra (Mahima) enters his life. Initially, he hates her but as days pass by, he finally starts liking her. In the meantime, after a series of incidents, news comes out that Chaitra was murdered and Anand was involved in the case. SI Durga Prasad (Ajay Ghosh) starts investigating the case and Anand lands in a big trouble. What happened to Chaitra? Did Anand kill Chaitra? How did Anand come out of this mess? forms the story of the film Venkatapuram.

 

Cast and Performances:

The film has good performances from almost everyone. Rahul has undergone a massive makeover for the film and he shined in the youthful role brilliantly. The way he showed some variations is impressive. He should start changing his thought process while selecting the roles and should experiment more. Rahul impressed in the film as Anand and so is Mahima as Chaitra. She is cute and good looking. She did perform well. Ajay Ghosh is another interesting actor who has got a remarkable role. Ajay Ghosh from the beginning impresses with his dominating act. Ajay who comes in the second half is also very good in the role he is playing. Kasi Viswanath is good in the role he was offered. The casting is good and they made a good impression.

Technical Department:

Technically, everyone has come out with their best work. Sai Prakash cinematography is one of the highlights of the film. The way DOP has maintained the mood of the film throughout deserves the appreciations. Madhu’s editing is nice. His cuts are sharp. Achu Rajamani’s music is another wonderful asset for the movie. Achu gave wonderful tunes for the film and also impressed with some good BGM. The action sequences are designed nicely. The production values are great.
