Review: Manamantha – A must watch

Manamantha-Dubbing-Mohanlal

Writer-Director: Chandra Sekhar Yeleti
Cast: Mohanlal, Gautami
Banner: Varahi Chalana Chitram
Music: Mahesh Shankar
Editor: GV Chandra Sekhar
Dialogues: Ravi Chandra Teja
Producer: Sai Korrapati, Rajni Korrapati

Story:

Sairam (Mohan Lal) is an assistant manager in a super market. He along with his colleague Viswanath (Harshavardhan) vies for the Manager post. Gayatri (Gautami) is a middle class homemaker who always dreams of a settled and happy life. She helps her lecturer in the past whose son now becomes a billionaire in Singapore. She is offered a job in Singapore which demands her to leave her family. On the other hand Mahita (Raina Rao) is a sensitive school going girl who is moved by the state of a poor boy.

Learning that he is interested in the school, Mahita joins him into her school without permission. Abhiram (Viswanth) is a brilliant student who eventually deviates and gets lost falling in love with Aira (Anisha Ambrose). Due to series of events, Sairam faces a challenge of finding Viswanath, Mahita had to find that poor boy, Abhiram decides to commit suicide & Gayatri had to leave for Singapore. How are they related to each other and how did they overcome their challenges form the rest of the story.

Star Performances:

Mohan Lal: Glad to see this class apart back in Telugu cinema. Talking of him, his Telugu dubbing deserves a mention. Though it carries a non-Telugite tinge, he pulled it off well. His subtle yet intense performance can even give you tears at times.

Gautami: Being her straight Telugu film after a long while, Gautami proves that she isn’t done.

Viswanth: This young promising actor does justice for his character. With his lively performance he announced that he is going to stay here for long.

Harshavardhan: This able actor gave a performance on par with Mohan Lal & others.

Dhanraj: Unlike his routine comedy, he plays a subtle supporting role in this film. You might miss the usual comedian in him.

Urvasi: She plays a role with comic tinge- a supportive role to Gautami’s role adding value to the emotional quotient of the film.

Vennela Kishore, Nassar and Chandra Mohan play brief yet significant roles in the film.

Analysis:

Unlike his previous intense films like Aithe, Anukukunda Oka Roju, Okkadunnadu and Saahasam, Chandra Sekhar Yeleti came up with an emotional family entertainer this time which isn’t a regular formula film.  Manamantha is four different stories of four different age groups in one script and we need to appreciate the director for attempting a script like this. All the characters in the film are so real and the performances subtle yet intense. The director does a good job in extracting good performances from all the actors in the film thus elevating the emotional quotient of the film.

Though the first half of the film is a bit slow in its progression, it will eventually absorb you into its world. A twist in every story as the interval bang leads to an intriguing second half. This segment has proper Chandra Sekhar Yeleti’s signature in terms of engagement and building up the suspense factor. The last twenty minutes is the key asset of the film.

Positive Aspects:

Lead Cast performance especially Mohan Lal and Raina Rao.
Engaging narration especially in the Second Half.
Cinematography
Music and Background Score.

Negative Aspects:

Stories of two lead characters.
Narrative in the first half.
Lack of commercial entertainment might be a disappointment for the masses.

Review : Pelli Choopulu – Fresh and Cool concept

Pelli-Choopulu-TV-Satellite-rights

Director: Tharun Bhascker
Cast: Vijay Devarakonda, Ritu Varma, Kaushik
Banner: Dharmapadha Creations
Editor: Ravi Teja
Cinematography: Nagesh Banell
Music: Vivek Sagar
Distribution: Suresh Productions
Producer: Raj Kandukuri

Story:

Chitra (Ritu Varma) is a strong independent woman battling to be a successful entrepreneur with her food truck idea against to her conventional father’s will to get her married. And on the other part of the world Prashanth (Vijay Devarakonda) is a slack happy-go-lucky engineer graduate dreaming of becoming a chef but ending up fit for nothing. Even his father decides to get him married and that is how Prashanth’s family lands up in Chitra’s house as part of the Pelli Choopulu.

Due to a problematic door, Prashanth & Chitra get locked up in a room and that is where they get to know each other’s dreams, aspirations and past love stories. But only at the end of their conversation, Prashanth’s family realizes that they have come to the wrong place. What happened to Chitra & Prashanth, their dreams and lastly their blossoming relationship forms the rest of the plot.

Star Performances:

Vijay Devarakonda: Remember this guy who wanted to go to ‘Dhood Kashi’ and bugged Nani in Yevade Subramanyam? This talented guy has utilized every opportunity that came his way and continues to shine as Prashanth in Pelli Choopulu. Many of us will relate to his character in the film, especially his body language, dialogues with the typical Hyderabadi accent. Few scenes with his co-stars were hilarious too!

Ritu Varma: This gorgeous starlet was a head-turner in the role of Chitra, a strong independent woman. She was cute, contemporary and elegant in her presence and portrayal and there is always scope for improvement as an actor.

Industry gets a new comedian called Kaushik – you’ll enjoy his Telangana accent and comedy! The other supporting cast was purposeful and brilliant.

Analysis:

We have seen many films, love stories and specifically romantic comedies of all kinds but how many of them are that cute, honest and bracing in terms of storytelling?

Pelli Choopulu stands apart right from the very first frame. It is the story of a boy and girl next door naturally contrasting but with a common point – hatred for people who eat samosa with excess sauce! Now how many films today have such detailing and depth in the lead characters? Ok… if this samosa point isn’t that convincing the hero and heroine will give you enough reasons about what they are and what they are not! And given all these, the way the characters and their aspirations are brought together and set up was absolutely impressive. By the time you are relishing the first half, it breaks for intermission leaving you rooting for the characters, their resentment and importantly their story.

What do you expect from such a well-staged first half? Obviously an equally good second half or a second half that can scale it to new heights (that too if you’re over-expecting)! On an honest note, it is engaging (predictable is a cliche again) enough but it could have been more heartening only if it was dramatically rooted. And the climax leaves you wanting for more!

The best part is that director Tarun Bhascker played with his strength – a simple, fun-filled engaging narrative with a breezy treatment. And by the way the chemistry between the lead pair completely goes for a toss but looks like it is a deliberate attempt by Tarun to prove that a good love story doesn’t always need a sparkling chemistry!

On a simpler note: Pelli Choopulu has all that you look for in a romantic comedy film – a perfect pick for this weekend!

Positive Aspects:
Screenplay and fresh treatment
Well-etched characters and decent performances
Fun and comedy (few hilarious scenes) that is blended well into the narrative
No melodrama
Music and background score
Cinematography
Editing and Runtime (just around 2hrs)

Negative Aspects:

Over simplified second half

Music:

This Pelli Choopulu album is catchy, foot-tapping yet refreshing. Unlike the routine, all the songs were beautifully blended with the narrative. But what stands apart is Vivek Sagar’s back ground score that has the feel of a fresh evening breeze and aroma of a just brewed filter coffee which adds a different tone and dimension to an ordinary narrative.

Others:

Makers need to be appreciated for delivering such qualitative product with a shoe-string budget.

Review: Savitri – Decent family entertainer

Nara-Rohit
Everytime we open Facebook or Twitter or Youtube, what we find in common is short films. A short film maker is born out of each and every street these days. Some are born out of passion, some are just to impress girls and some out of their personal reasons. One of the short film maker born with passion is Pavan Sadineni. He made his debut into feature filmmaking with super hit film “Prema Ishq Kadhal” which was released in 2014 and became a decent hit. He is now making his second outing with Nara Rohit and Savitri starrer “Savithri” produced by V B Rajendra Prasad under Vision Film Makers. Let’s see how it works on us!!

Story:
Savithri (Nanditha) is a girl who is born and is very much excited about marriage. She always want to marry to be a part in those celebrations. She is a girl who will do anything or go to any extent to get married. She gets her sister married forcibly and makes her line clear for marriage.
Her marriage gets fixed with a guy they know as family friends. She and her granny (Rama Prabha) along with Satya goes on pilgrimage to Shirdi. While in the train journey she happens to meet Rishi (Nara Rohit) and an eloped love couple (Madhunandhan and Sri Mukhi). Things get twisted when Sri Mukhi’s father’s gang attacks on train and Savithri along with Rishi and eloped couple miss the train. Who is Rishi?? What do Savithri do to get married?? That forms the rest of the story.

Actors Performance:

Nara Rohit as Rishi is superb and he lived in his role. He has to shed some weight to look handsome. He looks awkward in closeup shots. Nanditha as Savithri, a girl who always want her to be married as soon as possible. She did a terrific job in her role. Prabhas Seenu is nice in his hilarious role, a owner of Friendly Travels.

Rama Prabha is good as Savithri’s granny. Maadhunandan and Sri Mukhi as eloped couple are nice and generate good humour. Posani Krishna Murali as Krishna has given nice performance. Shakala Shankar is funny. Murli Sharma is nice as Savithri’s father. Ajay as Savithri’s uncle is good. Ravi Babu is fine. Satya, Satyam Venu, Dhanya Balakrishna, Fish Venkat, Vennela Kishore and other actors did what they are given.

Technical Aspects:

Basic story and plot line of Savithri is simple yet good. Screenplay is well written and it engages audience into the movie from the word go. Dialogues penned by Krishna Chaitanya are simple and situational. Writing department has done a fine job.
Songs are superbly composed and are trendy. Sravan did a fantastic job with songs. Chitramainadhi and Pilla O Pilla are our picks. One of the highlights of the movie is his background score. It gives necessary elevation and emotion to the movie. Cinematography by Vasanth are superbly rich and they makes us audience feel positive. Editing is neat. Action is choreographed well. Production values are rich.

Plus Points:
1) Nara Rohit
2) Nanditha
3) Music by Shravan
4) Cinematography by Vasanth

Minus Points:
1) Second half could have been better
2) Ignorable dull moments

Review: Attack – Watch it at your own risk

RGV’s-Attack-Release-Date-Locked
A director is said to be captain of ship. He controls and authorises everything that goes into making of a film. Directing a single movie at a time is an exhausting task, mentally and physically. So, directors don’t take that risk. As an exception to this, we have RGV aka Ram Gopal Varma. We have a plenty of movie posters or teasers or trailers released of his movies. One in that list is Manchu Manoj starrer “Attack” produced by C Kalyan, Swethalana and Teja under C K Entertainments, having Beeruva fame Surabhi as lead actress. It is releasing into theatres today. Let’s see how it works on us!

Story:

Guru Raj (Prakash Raj) is a business man and a person who once runs a rowdy gang. He has three sons Kali (Jagapathy Babu), Gopi (Vadde Naveen), Radha (Manchu Manoj). While on a visit to temple, Guru Raj is attacked by a gang and is killed. His family is clueless about the motive behind this attack.

Kali starts digging out the possible reasons and motive for this attack and people involved and planned. Everyone starts going opposite them. They even gets no support from anyone. They doubt a person and find about his whereabouts through a Police. Kali goes there with his gang and he is killed in this attack. Then it is the rise of Radha to solve all the problems. Who is behind these attacks?? What is the motive behind these attacks?? That forms the rest of story.

Actor’s  Performance:

Manchu Manoj as Radha doesn’t get much to perform in the first half. He is good throughout his role. Jagapathy Babu as Kali is impressive. It is said to be a comeback of Vadde Naveen. He is good with his performance. Prakash Raj as Guru Raj is adequate. RGV narrated philosophy through his role. What can a good actor/actors do when the script itself is a vaccum. Surabhi is seen hardly in the movie. Poonam Kaur is only meant for her thigh show. Abhimanyu Singh is good. Other actors are adequate.

Analysis:

Attack story plot is just laced with attacks and counter attacks. There is nothing to look into this story. Dialogues are simple and philosophical at times. All the characters in the movie are under developed. The script of this Attack is a big zero. Screenplay is bad. It fails to engage audience and also fails to create curiosity.

Music by Ravi Shankar is okay. His background music has nothing to do with this movie. His score where Jagapathi Babu dies is very bad. Cinematography by Anji is good. They are all RGV’s vintage angles. Ariel shots are good. Editing by Anwar Ali is mediocre. Stunts are well composed. Production values are good.

Plus Points:

1) Prakash Raj and Manoj Performances
2) Cinematography

Minus Points:
1) Music
2) Story
3) Screenplay

Review: Oopiri – A must watch emotional entertainer

Multi Starrers are not too common in our Telugu films. We see two stars coming together for a film very rare. In the olden days they were so common. For the reason unknown, our Telugu film viewers experience it very rarely. Trend of multi starrers again started with Mahesh Babu and Victory Venkatesh starrer Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu directed by Srikanth Addala produced by Dil Raju. This is again time for a multi starrer with Nagarjuna and Karthi coming together as cast with Thamanna Bhatia in female lead directed by Vamsi Paidipally under PVP Cinema. Let’s see how it works on us.

Story:
Seenu (Karthi) is a guy released from jail on parole. He is thrown out of his house by his mother (Jayasudha) about his behaviour putting his siblings career in his her mind. He attends an interview just to pass time and to get shelter. He then appointed as a care taker to Vikram Adithya (Nagarjuna Akkineni), chairman of Vikram Adithyaa group of companies. He is a quadriplegic patient, whose body is more like paralysed leaving his body parts immovable. How he takes care of Vikram?? What is the real reason behind Seenu getting job?? Answers to these questions form the rest of the story.

Actor’s Performance:

Nagarjuna Akkineni as Vikram Adithya, a quadriplegic patient is a lot more than fantastic. Their is no enough words to match his acting capabilities or his performance in Oopiri. As he was saying in interviews it is definitely a life changing movie for him. Karthi as Seenu is super good and is terrific in his role.

He complimented Nagarjuna very well in performance like a brother. Thamanna Bhatia is fantabulous and super beautiful. Jayasudha is superb as a middle class mother. Late Kalpana garu is nice. Prakash Raj did a superb job. Ali is hilarious in his role. Thanikella Bharani is good in his limited role. Other actors did according to their given role. Cameos have been used well.

Technical Aspects:

Story is so simple with a lot of emotions. Screenplay is so engaging and so convincing that audience watch it with a happy emotion on their face and wet eyes. Dialogues are situational and are well written. Songs are fresh and breezing to ears. They are well composed putting situations in mind by Gopi Sundar.

His background score is what it makes movie more emotional and more engaging. It is spell bounding. Cinematography by P S Vinodh is fantastic. He visuals are added advantage to this fantastic movie. Editing by Madhu is crisp. It is perfect. Race sequence is composed well. Production values are so rich.

Plus Points:

1) Performances by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Karthi
2) Story
3) Screenplay by Vamsi Paidipally
4) Music by Gopi Sundar
5) Cinematography by P S Vinodh

Minus Points:
1) Lengthy second half

Review: Run – Interesting comic thriller

run
Many stories are being adapted from other film industries and are turning into money spinners at the box office. Following the same trend is Sundeep Kishan’s latest release Run. The movie released today and is an official remake of bilingual film Neram starring Nivin Pauly and Nazriya. While Anisha Ambrose is playing the female lead in Run, the film is directed by Ani Kanneganti of Mr Nookayya fame. Music is composed by Sai Karthik and the movie is bankrolled by Sudhakar Cherukuri, Kishore Garikapati and Ajay Sunkara on AK Entertainments banner. Here’s the review.

Story:

Sanju (Sundeep Kishan) loses his software job and is in dire need of money for his sister’s wedding. He borrows money from a ruthless guy called Vaddi Raja (Bobby Simha) for a high interest. Being jobless, Sanju fails to repay Vaddi Raja’s money for a couple of months. Problems take a toll on Sanju when his childhood girlfriend Ammu(Anisha Ambrose) leaves her house to live with Sanju going against her father’s (Kasi Viswanath) wish. Sanju borrows money from his friend Praveen (Praveen) to repay Vaddi Raja. Twist in the tale arises when this money is stolen. Vaddi Raja kidnaps Ammu and threatens Sanju. How will Sanju solve all these problems forms the story.

Actors Performance:

Sundeep Kishan as always delivered a good performance. Bobby Simha’s acting skills are already known to the nation. Being a national award winner, he steals the show as Vaddi Raja. Comedy track by Brahmaji, Praveen and Posani is good. Anisha Ambrose plays the role of a sweet girl friend and delivered a decent performance.

Technical Aspects:

Plot of the story is gripping. Good productional values from AK Entertainments teamBackground score plays a crucial role in elevating a scene to its next level. Cinematography is good so are the dialogues. An extra dose of comedy however was needed in the film.

Review: Kathakali -Thrilling and intense murder drama

78072_thumb_665
Making a movie is one thing and releasing it is another difficult issue. So many movies struggle to much to make it to theatres. Be it financial issues, theatre findings, production issues they face too many hurdles to make their movie screen in a theatre. Vishal starrer Kathakali is one such movie which is finally releasing after so many delays into theaters, which is directed by Pandiraj with Catherine Tresa in female lead produced by Vishal under his Vishal Film Factory. It was released in Tamil before and earned decent reviews from critics and audience as well. Let’s see how it works on us.

Story:

Kamal aka Kamalakar Reddy (Vishal) returns from USA to marry his love interest Malliswari (Catherine Tresa). He goes to all his friends houses to invite them to his marriage. During these visits his love story is revealed. Malliswari (Catherine Tresa) and Kamal (Vishal) falls in love through a wrong phone call. He goes to USA due to certain problems and comes to India to marry her. Sambasivudu (Madhusudhan Rao) is the president of Fishers Association, Kakinada. Kamal’s family has some major problems with him. One day Kamal shows his anger on Sambasivudu when he is with his friends. Finally, Sambasivudu is brutally murdered and the blame comes on Kamal and his brother. Who are the culprits behind the murder?? What is the problem between Kamal and Samba?? forms rest of the story.

Actor’s  Performance:

Vishal as Kamal aka Kamalakar Reddy is decent. He seems regular in his roles. He is well as a innocent guy who goes with the situations. Catherine Tresa as Malliswari is good. As we have been seeing heroines don’t get much scope to prove their potent in action movies, this movie is not an exception. Mime Gopi as Vishal’s brother is good. Shatru is good fit for his role Jayaprakash as a powerful businessman is good. Karunas is good in his comic role. Lakshmi Ramakrishnan is nice. Sreejith Ravi as Harish Chandra is super fit for his role. He comes in the second half and does his part well. All other actors has done well.

Analysis:

Plot of the story is good. Story is written well. Screenplay is good. It is engaging throughout the movie with love track as an exception. Dialogues are good. Love track between leads is so crap and it should have been written better. Intro of Sambasivudu and his opposition with a voice over is the beginning of the movie. This half is filled with Intro of all the characters and love track between Vishal and Catherine Tresa which is so crap. It neither has the intense love nor emotion. It is ended with murder of Sambasivudu where Kamal and his brother are fixed for the murder. It ends in so interesting way creating so much curiosity of what’s really happening. Second half begins with so much melodramatic scenes. It run on the base of Harish Chandra trying to arrest Kamal and close the case as wife of Samba is opposing to cremate Samba’s dead body. National award winning director Pandiraj as done good job with this movie.

Technical Aspects:

Songs composed by Hip Hop Tamizha are ignorable. Background score is nice. It elevates film to a decent level. Cinematography by Balasubrahmaniam is excellent. He showed movie in a realistic way. Visuals are fantastic. Editing is good. Action part is well composed. Production values are nice.

Plus Points:
  1. Vishal
  2. Screenplay by Pandiraj
  3. Cinematography by Balasubrahmaniam
  4. Background Score

Minus Points:
  1. Love track between Vishal and Catherine Tresa
  2. Songs

Review: Kalyana Vaibhogame (Naga Shaurya, Malavika Nair)

kalyanavaibhogameselfie_0
Cast: Naga Shaurya, Malavika Nair
Banner: Sri Ranjith Movies
Music: Kalyani Koduri
Producer: K.L. Damodar Prasad
Director: Nandini Reddy
Story:

Shaurya (Naga Shaurya) is a happy go lucky youngster who works as a video game designer in Hyderabad. He has little respect for the institution of marriage and prefers to spend his life without responsibilities. He also plans to get hold of a multi million project in New York so that he can escape the traditional baggage.

As fate could have it, Shaurya’s doting grandmother falls ill and expresses her last wish that Shaurya should get married before she dies. Shaurya meets Divya (Malavika Nair), a medical student in typical marriage looks set up and they soon realize that both share similar views on marriage. In order to escape their respective parents pressure, they decide to get married and then plan for a divorce on mutual consent. How do the equations turn around after they get married?- forms the rest of the plot.

Actors Performances:

Naga Shaurya shines in the role of a typical urban youngster. His chemistry with Malavika Nair is worth mentioning and the young actor delivers par excellence in emotional scenes. If at all he chooses novel scripts, a bright future awaits this rising star!
The bubbly actress Malavika Nair is fantastic in the role of an independent girl who is controlled by her doting father all the time. Her role has multiple shades and she carries the urban look with amazing ease. However, her histrionics resemble Nitya Menon in many sequences yet she pulls off to be unique.

Yesteryear hero Anand turned character actor gets a meaty role as an over controlling father and he does it with great perfection. He has little scope to deliver long dialogues but still makes his presence felt. One can see a different dimension of 90s actress Raashi in this film. She delivers emotions with just her eyes and suited perfectly to the role of a herione’s mother who is reserved. She might become the next Nadhiya for her classy performance!

Aggressive actress Aishwarya tones down to suit the role of hero’s mother. She does a neat job.Mirchi Hemanth has very less scope to perform as the hero’s quirky friend but he does well. Taagubothu Ramesh and Ashish Vidyarthi surprise the audience with their reprise of roles from Alaa Modhalaindhi as software engineer Gautam and serial killer respectively. The rest of the supporting cast is quite good and do their part.

Analysis:

The lady director Nandini Reddy struck gold with her debut film Alaa Modhalaindhi which thereby increased more expectations when she announced her second project Jabardasth. But the film disappointed many audience for being a straight lift from Bollywood flick Band Baaja Baarat. The director seems to have decided to play on her strengths by delivering a feel good family entertainer with great performances with Kalyana Vaibhogame.

One can say she was successful to certain extent in this regard. The film is based on the point how youngsters consider the institution of marriage to be stress at this era. While the film takes off on a fresh note with satires on arranged marriages and how families pressurize their respective kids for getting married, it transforms to just another predictable love story as it progresses.  Moreover, the basic storyline of the film has irresistible resemblance to Allu Arjun’s Happy sans commercial fights and masala. But some lines regarding the glorification of wedding system and family bonding were greatly executed.Kalyani Koduri delivers another melodious album for this flick and the songs blend with the storyline too well.  The background score fuses well with the scenes and make it a pleasant watch.

Plus Points:
1)Lead actors performances
2)Clean comedy

Minus Points:
1)Dragging second half
2)Predictable storyline

Review: Shaurya (Manchu Manoj, Regina Cassandra)

Manchu-Manoj-First-Look-in-Shourya
Cast: Manchu Manoj, Regina Cassandra
Music: Veda K
Producer: Malkapuram Siva Kumar
Director: K Dasaradh
Story:

Shourya (Manoj) is a Harvard graduate with loads of ambitions. In the opening scene, he plays a suave wannabe entrepreneur explaining his business plan. Then he meets his lover Netra (Regina) and they plan to leave India and work in the UK. However, Netra has a wish to visit Kotilingala temple during Sivaratri, and following this Shourya chances upon a series of unforeseen events. The movie rides on a ‘Who done it?’ template with intermittent twists and multiple sub-plots. We can’t reveal more of it here!

Actors Performances:

Manchu Manoj underplays his usual self and gives a subdued performance in this film. Whatever you expect from Manoj – the uncanny comedy, fights, etc. are not seen here. Good to see him venture out of the massy mold he created for himself over the years. Regina Cassandra plays the regular girl next door. A kind of the same role (with over-makeup) that’s she has been doing since eons. Though there were sparks of brilliance in her role, she couldn’t pull it off with poise. Prakash Raj sleepwalks the typical intelligent cop role and plays the one with Athadu hangover. His introduction is interesting but there should have been more meat on his character than just the one who’s connecting the dots.
Prabhas Sreenu owns the first half with his quirky comedy and makes the bland proceedings interesting Shakalaka Shankar presses the comic button in his introduction scene but his presence is shot-living. Brahmanandam has become boring these days with every director forcefully planting him to buy some run time. His character in this film also falls flat, and there’s just one spooky comic track to count on. Nagineedu plays the routine father with different intentions.Subbaraj is shown with negative shades and carries those traces all through the film. Nandu, Shayaji Shinde and others make blink-and-miss appearances.
Analysis:

With Shourya, director Dasarath comes out of his comfort zone of family dramas. He pens a decent story but the problem lies in the way in which it is narrated with many sub-plots. At a point of time the viewer gets confused in piecing them together. Every story has three points of view – audience, narrator, fact.

Shourya is based on this key element. That being said, when the twist pops up out of nowhere, the movie seems to be interesting but we are forced to watch the mundane stuff of boy-meets-girl and the hero wearing a heavy tinge of a Good Samaritan. This drenches out all the intrigue that’s generated from the happenings. The dialogues are good at places and the technical values are apt.

Plus Points:
1)Manoj and his nuanced performance and effortlessly handling the drifts in his character.
2) The climax, though a rip-off from many other flicks, is partly satiating.

Minus Points:
1)Routine scenes
2)Baseless comedy tracks and hurdling songs.
3)Music:
4)Veda K shines with his music in bits and pieces but fails to create an impact for this force-fit thriller.

Review: Guntur Talkies (Siddhu, Rashmi Gautam)

maxresdefault
Cast: Siddhu, Rashmi Gautham, Shraddha Das
Banner: RK Studios
Music: Sri Charan
Editor: Dharmendra Kakarala
Producer: Raaj Kumar M
Story- Screenplay-Director: Praveen Sattaru
Story:

Hari (Siddhu) and Giri (Naresh) who work in a medical shop are petty thieves. In one such trifling robbery one night, Hari and Giri rob about Rs 5 lakhs each and on top of it a Calcium Sandoz box without mutual knowledge. Both Hari and Giri flee off and their shop keeper (Sudarshan), Inspector Venkat (Raja Ravindra) & CI (Raghu Babu) chase these crooks. Besides them, Hari has Revolver Rani (Shraddha Das) and his muse Suvarna’s (Rashmi) parents chasing him and local don Jackie scouting for the Calcium Sandoz box. How did Hari and Giri survive the fatal hunt for them and what happened to their theft forms the rest of the plot.

Actors Performances:
Versatile actor  Naresh steals the show with his exceptionally gritty and hilarious act as ‘Giri’. He is one of the key reasons why you might watch the film throughout. Yet another promising young talent Siddhu has arrived. For all those who might conveniently keep aside this fledgling actor, with Guntur Talkies he announced that he is here to stay.
Seductress actres Reshmi Gautam has successfully pulled the crowds to the theatres but has been just used as a tease and nothing more. Better not to expect much. Shraddha Das is hot and her character was hatke too. When she says “Daa” you must go – entertaining! Unfortunately she got nothing to do beyond that. By the way, you’ve a surprising cameo by none other than Lakshmi Manchu in the film. Check it out for yourselves. Raghu Babu, Raja Ravindra, Potti Sudarshan, Jogi Nayudu, Fish Venkat, Pavala Syamala, Karate Kalyani & others give their best to this crime comedy but none of them were used to their fullest potentials.

Technical Aspects:

Besides the enticing Nee Kosam song, no conventional song numbers are to be expected in this film. However, Sri Charan does a decent job with the back ground score. Editing is average but certain scenes during the second half could have been chopped off.
This is pretty much predictable but leaves the audience with brains full of doubts to come back with pocket full popcorn.
