Review: Kshanam – Engaging, Surprising and Entertaining!

kshanamusa
Cast: Adivi Sesh, Adah Sharma, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Satyam Rajesh, Vennela Kishore, Satya
Banner: PVP Pictures
Music: Sricharan
Producer: Param V Potluri & Kavin Anne
Director: Ravikanth.

Story:
Rishi (Adivi Sesh) is a busy Investment banker in San Francisco. One day his ex-girlfriend Swetha (Adah Sharma) from India, calls him up to meet. Rishi who couldn’t forget Swetha flies down to India immediately and meets her. But much to his shock, Swetha tells him about her missing daughter Riya and desperately seeks his help in finding her. Though Rishi is initially told to fly back, he determines to help Swetha. But in the course of Riya’s pursuit, Rishi encounters a serious conflict between Reality & Truth and how did Rishi unfold the missing mystery and realize the truth forms the rest of the story.

Actors Performances:
Adivi Sesh was indeed the chariot of the film. He was always an interesting actor and he once again brilliantly carried the entire film on his shoulder.Adah Sharma unleashes the performer in her through this film. Anasuya Bharadwaj’s acting abilites will shock you and has got a big surprise for you. Way long to go girl! Vennela Kishore once again gave us a reason why he can be loved beyond a comedian. He plays yet another interesting yet endearing role as ‘Babu Khan Kala’ in the movie. Satya of Jyothi Lakshmi fame manages to put an impressive show. Satyam Rajesh was an absolute stunner as whacky yet committed cop Inspector Ravi Chowdary. The rest of the cast has done their best to keep this suspense drama engaging.

Analysis:

Well, Kshanam totally surprised us. You can talk volumes about the film that makes way into your heart but this is just a brief analytical piece about what and what did not left us impressed. Adivi Sesh is popular as an actor but with Kshanam he proves his mettle beyond acting. He provided a robust story and director Ravikanth Pereru ably translated the script onto the screen.

Technical Aspects:

This suspense drama has its heart in the right place and intrigues us right from the word go.  The water tight screenplay by Adivi Sesh and Ravikanth was indeed the heart of the film. After a while through the first half, you would realize this is not a routine film you are going to enjoy and by the end of the first half, you are given the first surprise in the film.

This will definitely leave you waiting for the second half that has the right twists, turns and some surprising yet engrossing performances that might leave you impressed. However, though the obvious climax and the crucial reason behind the entire suspense drama revealed in the climax is not fully convincing, the smart director has finished it off with an emotional touch. Abburi Ravi’s dialogues are precise and impactful. Kshanam is not a typical commercial album but indeed has music that suits the story and back ground score that goes in brilliant sync with the film.

Plus Points:
Story & Screenplay
Performances of Sesh, Adah, Anasuya, Vennela Kishore & especially Satyam Rajesh
Cinematography
Background score

Minus Points:
Lack of commercially entertaining ingredients.

Story:

The movie kicks off in Hindupur region in Rayalaseema. Krishna is an orphan, who loves his childhood friend Mahalakshmi (Mehreen). Mahalaskhmi is the daughter of a well reputed and most influential personality in Hindupur region. Nani and Mahalakshmi love each other but in public they behave like enemies due to Mahalakshmi’s family issue.  Krishna, who is a coward by nature, couldn’t talk to Rajappa or his henchman RamaRaju (Mahalakshmi’s brother).

Meanwhile, Rajappa’s brother ACP Srikanth accidentally arrests David Bhai (Murali Sharma) in Hyderabad. Amidst mysterious circumstances, Rajappa and family are attacked and ACP Srikanth’s three kids need rescue. The responsibility of the three kids  falls upon Krishna’s shoulders. How did Krishna rescues ACP Srikanth’s kids? What happened to Rajappa and his family? Will the couple reveals their love? What happened to their love story? Forms the rest of the plot.

Actors Performance:

Nani attempts to impress with his trademark vigor and body language. In spite of his usual guy-next-door image, he plays a routine commercial role with punches, punch dialogues, songs and dances and of course with an extra dosage of all that.

The debutante heroine Meheren Kaur is decent in her role. Whenever she pops out on the screen, flames it with her beautiful presence.Prudhvi’s combination with Nani is the meat in the film. Absolute fun! Murali Sharma and Sampath Raj are good in their respective roles. The other cast including Brahmaji and other did justice to their roles.

Analysis:

Taking the name of Hanu Raghavapudi, we need to say this is a clean love and family entertainer. Now talking about the film, Hanu scores good with his interesting hero characterization that has got ample scope for comedy. And secondly he’s got a cast like Nani, Meherene and Murali Sharma in the lead roles. Adding to it is the sparkling chemistry of refreshing pair Nani & Meheren. The comedy between Murali Sharma and comedian Prudhvi will tickle your funny bones.

Nani, Meheren, Prudhvi and Murali Sharma carry the film upon their shoulders rightly assisted by Brahmaji and Sampath Raj. Hanu had got his first half as a rollicking fun ride with the love story progressing simultaneously. There comes in the much predictable yet convincing pre-interval episode. While the second half is predominantly confusion drama that did evoke laughter. However, extended second half and climax are the worth mentioning negative aspects of the film. On a whole, there is good comedy quotient in the film that makes the audiences ignore the flaws and enjoy the film. The production values are apt and the canvas looks more colorful in song and dance sequences.

Plus Points:

  1. Extra-ordinary performance of the lead cast.
  2. Interesting characterization of Nani
  3. The comedy between Nani, Brahmaji.
  4. The romantic track between Nani and Meheren.
  5. Engaging screenplay with comedy throughout the film.
  6. Good songs and background score.
  7. Clean comedy that the family audience could enjoy.

Minus Points:
  1. Fragile conflict point
  2. Extended second half
  3. Routine and weak climax

Verdict:

On the whole, Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gadha is a decent watch and Nani scores yet another hit at the box office. Watch this film for Nani’s acting talents, cute romance between lead pair and Hanu Raghavapudi’s interesting direction.

Review: Loafer – Puri Jagganadh’s formulaic commercial potboiler

Loafernew
Director : Puri Jagannadh
Producer: C. Kalyan
Cast : Varun Tej, Disha Patani, Posani Krishna Murali , Revathi.
Story-Screenplay-Dialogues : Puri Jagganadh
Music : Sunil Kashyap
Presented by :  C. K. Entertainments
Banner : Sree Subha Swetha Films
Release : 17th December, 2015
After a brilliant positive response for his last film Kanche, Varun Tej has planned his career perfectly by associating with Puri Jagannadh for his next film Loafer.  Also starring Disha Patani, Posani Krishna Murali  and Revathi, the film has hit the screens today.Let us see how it is..

Story:

The movie starts off with a quarrel scene between Revathi and Posani, and  finally Posani walks out of home with his one year kid. Posani trains his son Varun Tej (Raja) as a selfish and make him to settle down as a pickpocketer  in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Posani tells to Raja his mother died in his childhood.

In the meantime, Parijaatam (Disha Patani), who doesn’t like her arranged marriage proposal with rich kid guy (Ali), runs away from home. She too reaches Jodhpur and settles as a guide at local forts. One day Parijaatam bumps into pickpocketer Raja in Jodhpur while he tries to steal her suitcase and slowly they both falls for each other.

The twist in the tale arises when few goons forcibly took Parijatam to Hyderabad. Then immediately Varun Tej  lands to Hyderabad to rescue his ladylove from the gang. With the help of Revathi, he started searching for his girlfriend. In the mean time, Raja finds his mother and knows that his mother is Revathi.  Why did the parents of the child are separated? How Parijatam and Revathi related to each other? How Raja comes to know his mother is alive? How he tries to get acceptance from his mother? How he rescue the local people in hometown from the clutches of the villain Mukhesh Rushi ? To know the answers for all these questions, watch the movie on the silver screen.

Postive Points:

Loafer is a romantic action movie laced with all other commercial ingredients. Though the story has nothing new to tell, some emotional scenes keep you engaged. Varun has given a stand out performance pulling of  two different roles – Loafer and emotional son with great conviction.

Though the story has nothing new to tell, some emotional scenes keep you engaged.  Be it comedy, emotion romance or action, Varun is game for it. The amount effort he has put to get into the shoes of emotional son is commendable. Disha Patani is good in her role.  Posani and Revathi did complete justice to their roles. Varun Tej’s performance and interval bang are the assets for the film.
Minus Points:
Story wise, once again there is nothing new. After the interval, the film gets quite predictable and you exactly know what will happen by the end. After the post interval part, the film drifts apart and some unnecessary scenes come in to the picture.

Climax also looks a bit forced and is also dragged out with too much melodrama. Certain logics go missing in the film as the mother son relation could have been revealed during pre-climax to make the film even more believable.

Music of the film is a huge let down as the songs do not register at all. Brahmanandam’s entry and his episode have been unnecessary added and looks logicless. The film’s two-hours run-time your tests you patience, as I found myself checking my watch more than once.
Technical Aspects:

The production values are good. Cinematography by P.G Vindha is simply superb. The portions shot in Jodhapur are extremely beautiful. The re-recording work by Sunil Kashyap elevates the film to the next level. Particularly, the BGM during the emotional scenes is simply superbb.

Editing is just average. Boring First half and the second half is some what’s good in bits and parts. Though the film was shot in outdoors, Vital did  justice with his smart art work in the film.  The songs, composed by Sunil Kashyap, are brilliant, especially Suvvi Suvvi  Suvvalamma song will leave you emotional and mesmerized. The portions shot in Jodhapur are extremely beautiful.

Verdict:
Loafer is not a great film and you are bound to be disappointed if you go in with huge expectations. Varun’s charisma and a few interesting twists save this flawed action entertainer! Watch it as a regular mass entertainer and the chances are there that you would end up liking it.

Review: Bengal Tiger – Regular mass entertainer

BengalTiger1
 [review]
Director : Sampath Nandi
Producer: K. K. Radha Mohan
Cast :Ravi Teja, Rashi Khanna, Tammanah
Story-Screenplay-Dialogues : Sampath Nandi
Music : Bheems Cecireleo
Presented by : KK Radha Mohan
Banner : Sri Satya Sai Arts
Release : 10th December, 2015

Ravi Teja is back with Bengal Tiger, which seems like yet another mass potboiler with all the quintessential crazy antics of the star. Directed by Sampath Nandi, the film also stars Tamannaah and Rashi Khanna in lead roles. This film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Aakash Narayan (Raviteja) hails from a village Atreyapuram in Godavari district. Owing to his marriage issues, he wants to become a celebrity or at least he wants fame by doing something crazy. In that process, he throws stone on a cabinet minister ( Sayaji Shinde) who visits his village for election campaign. Thus Aakash gets media attention and minister’s attention as well and ends up in Jail. But, during the course, realizing Aakash’s smartness, same minister hires him to work in his team.

Later, Home minister Siddhappa (Rao Ramesh) who is looking for a smart bodyguard like person for his family, especially for his daughter( Raashi Khanna) hires Aakash for one time task. Impressed by his work, Home minister offers a position with him, Aakash quits working for the other minister. In a similar fashion, Aakash climbs up the ladder with access to chief minister. In the sudden twist Raashi Khanna, Tamannah both loves Aakash and Aakash plays mind game with both lovely ladies.

What is Aakash’s main motive behind reaching CM Office? Do Tamannah or Raashi Khanna really love Raviteja character or any other mind games involved? How the revenge formula unveils? How Aakash maintained romantic track with both the heroines…That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:

Though the film is routine mass entertainer, the director has narrated with some fresh and new ideas. The first half is decent and the second half has the dragging narration.  30 Years Prudhvi steals the show as Future Star Siddappa.

Speaking of performances, Raviteja  carries the entire film on his shoulders and has done his job well. As usual, he is pretty good with his comic timing and fights. Rashi Khanna and Tammanah are yet another major attractions of Bengal Tiger. They are pretty good in their respective roles and Rashi Khanna’s bikini scenes are eye feast to all the front benchers.

Tammanah does a good job and her skin show is feast to her fans.  Comedy quotient in the film has been maintained quite nicely.  Mainly the comedy track between Prudhvi and Posani is rib tickling.  Brahmi is completely wasted in his role. Boman Irani.  Rao Ramesh and Boman Irani do their respective roles well.

Minus Points:
The main disadvantage of the film is its second half and regular climax. The post interval sequences are extended without reason, many of which could have been easily chopped off.

Technical Aspects:
The movie has good production values  and music by Bheems Cecireleo  is yet another asset for the film. Cinematography by Soundararajan is good. The locations chosen and the way they have been showcased is quite good. Dialogues by Sampath Nandi about Powerstar are edgy and evoke good fun.

Verdict:

On the whole, Bengal Tiger is yet another routine commercial entertainer that has come out this week. Raviteja’s sincere performance, a decent first half and an interesting interval bang are basic assets. But a dragged second half, and regular and routine climax spoil the fun. Bengal Tiger is only one time watch film.

Cast : Nikhil Siddharth, Nanditha Raj, Anjali

Release : 4th December, 2015
Young hero Nikhil is going great guns in his career. His is now back with his latest release Shankarabharanam. Starring Nikhil and Nanidtha, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:

Shankarabharanam, which is a remake of Bollywood film Phas Gaya Re Obama is a crime comedy thriller movie, which has been penned by ace scriptwriter Kona Venkat. Set in the backdrop of Bihar, the movie revolves around the story of an NRI Gowtam(Nikhil Siddhartha), who visits Bihar to sell his maternal property.

In very next scene, Gowtam learns that his father has been cheated by business partners and on the verge of bankruptcy. To recover from the debts, Gowtam’s mother’s idea is to sell her ancestral property which is located in Bihar. Now Gowtam

decided to go India to sell

the Property and get rid of the debts in USA. What are the consequences faced by Gowtam in that process forms the rest of the story..

Artist’s Performances:
Speaking of performances, Nikhil, suits perfectly in the role of NRI. It is quite surprising and impressive to see him perform the way he did. Nikhil had a lot of scope to showcase his talent and he delivers it with a lot of ease. Nanditha and Anjail are good in their respective roles.
Anjali, Sampath Raj, Rao Ramesh, Sapthagiri and Geetha Singh have done justice to their roles. Too many villain gangs been introduced, many of the comedians too. Altogether nothing worked. Comedy quotient in the film has been maintained quite nicely in the first half with Sapthagiri  doing a good job as Nanditha’s lover.
Analysis:
The film has a slow and dragging narration, but few comedy scenes are entertaining. However, the second half is very engaging and 30 Years Prithvi steals the show as Percentage Parmesh.  First half of the film is very engaging, and the way the love story has been weaved into this crime thriller is quite good.
Technical Aspects:
The movie has good production values  and music by  Praveen Lakkaraju is just average. Richard Prasad’s cinematography are the big attractions in the technical front. Dialogues by Kona Venkat  are edgy and evoke good fun. Screenplay is also very impressive as some cleverly packaged scenes are placed in right areas.
Verdict:
On the whole, Shankarabharanam has some decent moments. Nikhil’s performance, interesting story and entertaining first half are major assets of this film. One time watch crime comedy thriller.

Bruce Lee – The Fighter Review Roundup

Chiranjeevi

[review]

Basing on the reviews of the top rated sites of tollywood industry…

123telugu.com Rating : 3.25/5

On the whole, Bruce Lee is a decent family entertainer. Ram Charan’s mature performance, stunning songs and racy first half are solid assets. If you manage to sit through the average second half, you are surely going to love mega star’s entry at the end and come out with a smile on your face.

idlebrain.com Rating: 3.25/5

First half of the film is smooth with plot thickening as interval approaches. Second half deals with hero proving certain things in order to save his family. One tend to expect hilarious entertainment when you see character of Brahmanandam, but Seenu Vaitla concentrated on family emotions this time. Plus points are family story line, Charan’s performance, Chiranjeevi’s special appearance, music, dances and cinematography. On the flipside, a better entertainment in second half would have taken movie to the next level. On a whole, Bruce Lee is a family oriented film which has all ingredients for a box office success with Ram Charan dishing out an all-round performance!

Tupaki.com Rating: 2.75

‘Bruce Lee’ is the story of a Stunt Man fighting all the odds for his family. In a way, Director highlighted the mindset of lower middle class people and importance of Girl Education. However, An Inter dropout hero becoming into an IB Department Official is unconvincing.

The moment Sreenu Vaitla, Kona Venkat & Gopi Mohan teamed up for ‘Bruce Lee’, Audience were expecting nothing short of hilarious entertainment from them. Surprisingly, Vaitla concentrated more on the human emotions rather than entertainment which is he is known for! Of course, Emotional Scenes of Ram Charan with Rao Ramesh & Kriti Kharbanda were touching to say the least.

Characterization of Hero has been designed so well but one can’t find freshness in the story. Screenplay of ‘Bruce Lee’ appears routine with traces of ‘Dookudu’ & ‘Baadshah’. Vaitla mark hilarious entertainment is missing in ‘Bruce Lee’ inspite of using the services of several star comedians. The way Brahmanandam (Suzuki Subrahmanyam) was used in the movie reminds us of Vaitla’s past two hits but the comedy skits will entertain the audience to some extent.

At the time when audience are going restless with not much happening in the Second Half, Chiranjeevi’s Cameo in the Climax lifts their spirits and fans could only jump in joy. It gave a good feeling to audience while stepping out of the theaters despite all the flaws. The helicopter sequence reminds us of Indra’s action block. Chiru’s rugged look, screen presence and style were simply magnificent.

While the First Half is partly entertaining, Second Half is a big let down and Megastar’s re-entry is the only saving grace. Overall, ‘Bruce Lee’ is just an average fare.

Puli Movie Review Roundup

puli movie

[review]

Based on the reviews of top telugu movie sites and based on the public talk.

123telugu.com Rating : 2.5/5

On the whole, Puli is a film with good concept and bad execution. The boring narration and lack luster screenplay spoils the mood of the film big time. Other than the impressive visuals and stellar performances by Vijay and Sridevi, this fantasy drama has nothing much to offer. All those who are interested in multi-starrers and lavish film making can give this film a shot, others can take it easy.

indiaglitz.com Rating-2.75/5

Despite some drawbacks and disappointments, ‘Puli’ ends up as a decent fantasy entertainer  that will be specially liked by Children and  Vijay who retains his form and charm as always lives up to his mass appeal.

Chandrika Movie Review-Roundup

Chandrika Movie Review

[review]

Based on the reviews of Top Telugu movie sites and based on the public talk.

Chandrika is a Horror Thriller with  a routine story Line . But glamour of the actress (Sree Mukhi and Kamna Jethmalani) and their acting skills saved the movie.

indiaglitz.com Rating: 2.5/5

‘Chandrika’ reminds one of ‘Chandramukhi’ more often than it would have had it been directed by someone with no ‘Chandramukhi’ hangover. It comes with a wafer-think story line.  A few novel scenes could have redeemed the film.

123telugu.com Rating : 2.25/5

On the whole, Chandrika fails to impress the audience due to its routine story line and slow narration. The glamour quotient of the female leads is the only saving grace for this film which ends up as a fearless horror drama.
