Amidst the Horror-Comedy trend, here comes a serious Horror-thriller with Nayatara as main lead. A Tamil dubbed telugu film “Mayuri”, hows the movie, does it scared the audience? Let’s see

Plot: film starts with some weird incidents happening in the life a drawing artist after he reads a story sent by a editor for Magazine, He realizes that it is related to a place called “Maya Vanam” which is located far away in the woods.

Meanwhile, in a parallel thread, Apsara(Nayatara) a struggling artist, leaves his husband and lives with her friend. She is struggling for finances.
and there is this movie crew, made a film called “Cheekati” and for publicity, they through a challenge to public that, whoever watches the whole movie alone in theater will get a 5 Lacs as prize money.

Apsara senses this challenge as an opportunity, gives her acceptance to face the challenge, what happens while she is watching the film? Who is Mayuri? And what’s her story? forms a brilliant story.

Analysis: Director has a mind-blowing plot, in a way he justified the story with his superb taking and executed in a convincing way. Screenplay of the film puzzles the audience, makes to think but never leaves audience in a confusion, There are flaws and routine scenes here and there, but because of superb camera work and non-linear screenplay makes it a edge of a seat thriller.

One should appreciate the crew, because with in a very limited resources and budget, crew was able to deliver a good filmatic experience for the audience. With the selection of colour grading for different threads, director have done a laudable job.

Directors brilliance can be seen by, the way he handled certain roles like Mayuri and Arjun, without showing their faces. All the artists although new, gave what is required. Only song which is written by Chandrabose is good.

Artist Performances:
Nayanatara may be the lead actress but has less screen presence and she only needs just to give some subtle expressions, which she managed with perfection. All the other artists done well, Director abstracted the right expressions from them.

Technical Departments
Mayuri more of a technician’s film rather than the actor’s film. Every department done well, Cinematography is top notch, Art department have done brilliant job. Lighting through out the film is excellent. Costumes are natural. BGM enthralls you.


Courier Boy Kalyan Movie Review

Story:

PK (Nithin) Which means Panileni Kalyan who tries alot for a job. One of his friend is a courier boy who has to deliver a package unfortunately instead of him Nithin will deliver the package coincidentally he will deliver it to Heroine Kavya (Yami Gautham), in a first glance he falls for her and to meet her regularly he’ll become a courier boy and does different stuff to impress her. Ashutosh Rana will be doing some research in medicine field like to abort pregnant women with the help of medicines and collect their traces to do research. Who ever the pregnant women visits him he will abort them without letting them know. All these consequences noticed by the compounder will courier the social worker satyamurthy(Nazar), did the courier reached to satyamurthy? How is the courier associated with Kalyan? Ashutosh Rana’s plan will turn out to be successful or not?? Should watch all these on the big screen.

Performance:

Nithin has accepted this movie only to try something new and yes he infact did that in his career. He was looking perfect as a courier boy and performed well. Love,action episodes were perfect.Yami Gautham appeared good. Satyam Rajesh got a good character in this film.Nazar,Ashutosh Rana,Ravi,Harshavardhan,Surekhavani were into their regular characters.

Technical Aspects:

Karthik,Anoop Rubens composed music they were ok. As per the story perfect rerecording was done by Sandeep Chautha. Cinematography was good,dialogues were ok.Producers have also invested good amount as per the story instead of over budget to avoid risks

Overall:

Infact this is a good script on doing a research through the stem cells to find out the cure of a disease but aborting pregnant women’s without their notice is a different concept. The Director has linked up such a broad point to courier boy. What if the courier hasn’t reached to the concerned person or to someone else, this particular suspense has been awesomely continued throughout. Though this sort of stories is new to the industry and so the entire first half director elevated Nithin to become a courier boy and that of Love track and a introduction of the stem cells research concept.

Second half was on the courier completely, such a typical story needs screenplay is the key role. Director need to involve the audience but he was late here. For the first 10minutes he has done interestingly, Saptagiri, Telangana shakuntala’s comedy didn’t work out and the Hero turning into courier boy was not so real and the love track was not connected anywhere. The stem cells concept will be greek and latin to common man, such concepts should have been explained in detail with graphics.

Songs were not upto the mark, they were like disturbance during the track. As per the script Hero’s introduction should have been naturally outside somewhere rather than in a pub. They haven’t designed the costumes as per the characters. Sapthagiri’s comedy track has been attached at the end of the film which was not at all entertaining. Stem cells, umbilical cells, fetal system like terms were not at all understandable by the audience. Satyam Rajesh reading the letter has spoiled the essence in it.

Finally:

People who like suspense,Action content based cinema’s “Courier Boy Kalyan” will surely entertain. From such different scripts we don’t expect comedy so can watch it. It cannot be said that this is a typical experimental cinema in Telugu film industry. People who are in search of new concept based cinema will surely like and be impressed with courier boy.


Srimanthudu Movie Review & Rating – A perfect family entertainer!

Harsha (Mahesh Babu) is the son of a millionaire Ravikanth (Jagapathi Babu). Harsha is a kind of man, who wants to speak less and earns respect by his own. One day Harsha meets Charuseela (Shruti Haasan), who has a desire to develop her village with the latest technology.

Gradually, he falls in love with Charu and he also joins post graduate course in Rural Development. But, Charuseela rejects Harsha’s love as she comes to know his past.

In order to fulfill the dream of Charu, Harsha leaves to Devarakota and adopts that village. But, he faces problems from local rowdy Sasi (played by Sampath) and Union Minister Venkata Ratnam (mukeshi Rishi). Will he able to face that problems? What was Harsha’ past? Why did Charuseela reject his love? To find out answers for these questions, you need to watch Srimanthudu on big screen.

 

Artiste Performance:

Mahesh Babu looks cute, young and handsome in this movie. His punch dialogues and expressions are the highlights of this movie. Shruti Haasan has done her part well.

Her chemistry with Mahesh Babu is good.  Jagapati Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Sukanya, Sivaji Raja, Aamani, Angana Roy, Sanam Shetty, Tejaswi Madivada, Sampath Raj, Mukesh Rishi, Rahul Ravindran and Poorna have done justice to their roles. Ali and Vennala Kishore succeeded in providing relief through their hilarious comedy.

What’s good:

Mahesh Babu’s performance is awesome. Koratala Siva’s direction and screenplay is top-notch. The choreography is good and the costumes, exotic locales are also good. Dialogues written by Siva are another big asset of this movie. Devi Sri Prasad’s music is superb.

 

What’s bad:

There are several predictable scenes and the pace of the narration is very slow. Especially, the second half, which is dead slow.

Technicalities:

Srimanthudu has rich production values. Devi Sri Prasad’s background score is the main highlight of this movie. R Madhi’s cinematography is another highlight of this movie. Art direction is commendable. Especially, the sets in the song ‘Dhimmathirigae’ are amazing.

Baahubali Movie Review

However, beyond this, the film with a star-studded cast of Prabhas, Rana Daggubati and Anushka Shetty offers little else. The film suffers in terms of continuity, because the film’s production took more than two years.

The plot is about two royal cousins raised by the mother of one — who decides that the strongest and the noblest of them would rule the kingdom of Mahishmati. The film often seems like a 1950s work with men and women in glittering costumes moving through the corridors of magnificent edifices.

When one of the cousins, Amarendra Baahubali (Prabhas), is crowned king, a court conspiracy sees him murdered. But this is of course for the sequel of Baahubali,scheduled after a year or so.[/vc_wp_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]


Jadoogadu – Predictable Mass Entertainer

Directed by Yogie, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story :-

Krishna ( Naga Shourya) comes to Hyderabad with the intention to earn money and settle well in life. He begins his career as a loan recovery agent and from there, he joins a gang run by Srisailam (Zakeer Hussain), who is a right hand to central minister Jagadeesh Naidu ( Kota Srinivasrao ). After a few days, he becomes the crucial member of this gang.

In the meantime, Krishna falls in love with Parvathy ( Sonarika), who hails from Kerala. She wants to settle in Dubai and convinces Krishna for the same. At the same time, Srisailam and Jagadeesh Naidu involve Krishna in a big deal without revealing the inner details about it.

So, how will Krishna face the consequences ? Will he be able to get out of the tangle and fly to Dubai with his love interest ? This forms the rest of the story.

Plus points :-

Naga Shourya’s characterization is the major highlight for this movie. He has acted with good energy levels through out the film and his performance in the climax is a big asset for the film.

The last half an hour is decisive for this film. This is the time when the twits are revealed and the movie proceeds with a good pace along with some racy narration. Climax is well executed. Comedians Srinivas Reddy, Prudhvi and Ramesh did a decent job in their roles.

Apart from Naga Shourya, the remaining cast particularly Kota Srinivasrao , Zakeer Hussain, Ashish Vidyarthi and Ajay performed well and did justice to their roles. Sonarika’s glamourquotient is an added advantage for this movie.

Minus Point :-

The basic plot is a huge setback for the film. The predictable story line has been used in numerous movies earlier in Tollywood. Also, the logic in many scenes goes missing. Few unnecessary characters were included and the length of the movie becomes a tad too long.

After elevating the hero’s character in the first half, the director failed to continue the tempo in the second half. Many unnecessary scenes hamper the free flow of the movie. Naga Shourya’s character is not elevated much during the second half and lacks clarity.

The excessive run time of 150 minutes can be a dampener going by the current trend of movies. Saptagiri’s role looks cheap and goes overboard.

Technical Aspects :-

Debutante music director, Sagar Mahati gave superb music and his background score is a big bonus for this movie. Cinematography by Sai Sriram is OK. Every frame in the movie looked decent and a couple of songs were shot very nicely.

Director Yogie could have done a much better job. Although he dealt with the screenplay in a nice way, his plot is predictable and fails to make it interesting. Editing is below par as many scenes could have been easily trimmed out. The production values are pretty rich and the makers have not compromised in bringing out a quality movie for the audience.

Verdict :-

On the whole, Jadoogadu is interesting only in bits and pieces. A few entertaining scenes in the first half and a well executed climax are the saving grace for the film. Lion Movie Review

The rest of the story is about how he unravels the mystery behind his true identity and the political conspiracy which wrecks his life.

MOVIE REVIEW: It’s true what people in Telugu film industry say about Balakrishna – he’s a director’s actor. He believes in every scene, dialogue and action sequence, no matter how over-the-top they are. And, he is every bit the hero that the director wants him to be. It is this earnestness in him that shines like a beacon, irrespective of what the fate of the film is. And that is pretty much what one can talk about in the context of his latest action drama, Lion. Directed by Satyadeva, the film is an action drama which, more often than not, finds itself in a mess.

The film opens in a hospital, where Godse (Balakrishna) wakes up from a coma for a long time. He doesn’t remember his past and is surprised when an elderly couple, played by Chandramohan and Jayasudha, claim to be his parents. Soon, he comes to Hyderabad in search of his true identity and he bumps into Mahalakshmi ( Trisha), who he believes is his girlfriend. When she tells him that it’s a case of mistaken identity, Godse is taken aback and he meets a similar fate when he meets his parents as well. What’s the reason behind their denial? Is Godse really the man he claims to be? That forms the crux of rest of this story.

A film like this requires a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, especially when it comes to the gravity-defying stunt sequences. In one particular scene, Balakrishna is airlifted and moments later, he breaks himself free and lands on the ground without a scratch on his body. And there’s plenty of mumbo-jumbo about firewall security, tracking devices to name a few. While the intent to mount the film on a huge scale is palpable, the biggest let down of the film is the storytelling itself. It’s so convoluted right till the end. There are flashbacks within a flashback and by the time you know what’s happening, the basic plotline stops making sense. The first half is drab, although, to be fair, the film picks up momentum from the interval scene onwards.

Lion has a huge star-cast, but not a single one of them, except Balakrishna and to an extent, Prakash Raj, has any substantial roles to play. Perhaps, the only saving grace is the background score by Mani Sharma and few power-packed dialogues. At a run time of 160 minutes, Lion feels excruciatingly long, and despite several twists and turns the story is barely engaging. Dohchay Movie Review

And in the process, he crosses path with Manikyam, a criminal who is responsible for wrecking his family. The rest of the story is about how Chandu takes revenge on Manikyam and achieve his goals.

MOVIE REVIEW: Dohchay is a crime comedy about a conman, Chandu (Naga Chaitanya) who has the world at his feet. He just spots his prey like an eagle and accomplishes his job as if he’s born to do that, without any fear that he might get caught. But he’s also a guy who has principles. In fact, he cons people to be able to afford the college fees of his sister, who wants to become a doctor and to secure the release of his father, who is in jail. And he has no qualms to risk his own life to achieve these two goals. In the middle of all this, he falls in love with Meera (Kriti Sanon). And like every other film in this genre, there’s a motif – a bag containing Rs 2 crores. By a stroke of luck Chandu gets his hands on the bag, which triggers a chain of events, where everything that he had planned could tumble down.

Now, all this sounds like a perfect masala for a intriguing con drama, but what we get in the end is a partly entertaining, a watered-down version of everything you expect from a film in this genre. For all its well-conceived scenes, there’s barely any sense of urgency or adrenaline rush that might put Chandu in real danger. There’s always a plan B and Chandu makes every act of his seem like a child’s play. As if that’s not enough, his biggest nemesis, Manikyam (Posani Murali Krishna) is more of a comic-villain, who himself acknowledges that his personality doesn’t scare anyone around him. No wonder, we don’t take anyone or anything seriously in the film, and the film itself doesn’t suck us into its broad canvas.

At one point, you begin to wonder if this how it feels like to see a potentially good idea losing track of its tone and drama? Maybe. Maybe not. Because, if there’s anything which you take back after watching a Telugu film is the number of times you laughed and in that sense, Dohchay delivers quite well. The entire track featuring Posani Murali Krishna, Viva Harsha and Trilok is hilarious and the trio are lucky to get the best lines in the film. Then there’s the ever dependable Brahmanandam, who plays a lecherous movie actor named Bullet Babu. His entry into the story is one of the high points and as long as he’s around, nothing else seems to matter. Saptagiri has a brief cameo and his interactions with Naga Chaitanya are pretty funny as well.

Filmmaker Sudheer Varma, who made his debut with Swamy Ra Ra, is clearly in love with crime comedy genre and throughout the film, there are subtle references to other movies, which he tries to pay tribute to. The biggest of them all has got to do with Naga Chaitanya’s characterisation itself. Chandu comes across as a more polished and subtle 21st century version of Deva, a character which Nagarjuna had played in Hello Brother. Both of them are small time crooks, who are driven by their zeal to stand as a pillar of support to their respective sisters. Then there are plenty of Mexican-stand offs, which are common in films of Quentin Tarantino. For instance, take that scene that occurs just before the interval – it has the hallmark of a filmmaker who knows how a set of random events can come together in a spectacular fashion. Despite all this, the film never really goes on top gear and struggles to keep up with the pace that it merits.

Naga Chaitanya finds himself in the role where he has to underplay everything, whereas Kriti Sanon looks the part as a tomboy; however, the lack of romance between the two leaves a lot to be desired. Richard Prasad’s cinematography is a big asset to the film and the action sequences are well-composed. Beyond all its fine moments and laugh-out-loud moments, it all boils down to an elaborate con job. While Chandu pulls off a con job quite easily, in the end, we also realise that someone else has pulled off a con job on the film itself and took away its energy. However, his life turns topsy-turvy when his father passes away in a freak accident.

MOVIE REVIEW: You can trust Trivikram Srinivas to hit all the right notes, especially when it comes to exploring familial relationships. If his previous film, Atharintiki Daredhi dealt with the relationship between a hero and his aunt, his latest drama S/O Satyamurthy is all about the father-son bonding. Unfortunately, the film only has glimpses of everything one expects from Trivikram and Allu Arjun, which is a pity.

The film is narrated from Viraj Anand’s (Allu Arjun) point of view. And right from the onset, we are told that he wants to continue his father’s (Satyamurthy) legacy. In the process, he finds himself becoming the very thing his father wanted him to be – a humble, caring and kind person. Satyamurthy (Prakash Raj) is the epitome of all the goodness in the world, which in turn has a huge impact on Viraj. One fine day, Viraj’s life turns topsy-turvy when his father passes away in an accident. Later, he becomes the pillar of support to his family and the rest of the story is about how he regains everything that he loses in the beginning. In the midst of this riches-to-rags-to-riches story, he finds himself confronting Devaraj (Upendra), who holds the key to prove that Satyamurthy is truly a man of honour.

At a thematic level, the film sounds near perfect and it almost seems like Trivikram wants us to believe that there is still plenty of hope left in this world. That not everyone is cunning and cruel, and more importantly, your actions will have a long lasting impression on people around you. What’s also interesting about the film is that it presents a smartly written character study of Viraj, especially when he tries to dig deep within himself to explore his relationship with his father. His girlfriend, Sameera (Samantha) is a diabetic; Sameera’s father (Rajendra Prasad) is obsessed with money; Devaraj himself loves his wife (Sneha) so much that he wouldn’t spill any blood in front of her.

Despite all these interesting aspects, the film just doesn’t have the verve of an Allu Arjun’s film or the structure of a Trivikram’s film, where you care about every character till the end. However, it’s by no means a lazy film. In the beginning, the unpredictability of the proceedings takes you by surprise, but in the larger scheme of things, they don’t just add up to the extent where you would be forced to invest emotionally in the characters. What this film has in plenty is dialogues – the exact type of rhythmic lines you expect from Trivikram. His obsession with epics, Gods and rise of heroes in mythology finds ample space in the script and just to make it clear what exactly he is trying to suggest, Trivikram makes several characters quote instances from the lives of Rama, Sita, Ravana, Yudhisthira, and Karna to name a few. While the analogies are apt, it’s a million dollar question if the director has lost faith in the audience to grasp the subtext in the film.

Allu Arjun finds himself in a new avatar, both in terms of styling and performance. While he has certainly toned down the quantum of energy, which he brings into most of his characters, you begin to wonder if he’s too big to fit into Viraj Anand’s shoes. Except in scenes where he gets sucked into a whirlpool of emotions while talking about his father, it’s tough to root for him. In the second half, it’s actors like Upendra, Rajendra Prasad and Sneha who steal the show with their respective performances. Samantha and Nithya Menen play their roles well, although there’s only so much that you can expect from them, knowing that they aren’t in the spotlight for most part of the film. On the other hand, Adah Sharma has a small role to play where she has more dialogues that begin with ‘actually’ than the expressions she’s allowed to portray.

In the end, there are a bunch of interesting moments and well-written dialogues that linger in your mind. But, this is far from the best works of Trivikram or Allu Arjun in recent times. It’s not even the lack of enough number of rip-roaringly hilarious scenes that strikes your mind, but the randomness with which most part of the film has been dealt with that is more jarring. Tiger Movie Review

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css_animation=”left-to-right”][review][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]STORY:  The story starts off with an injured Vishnu (Rahul Ravindran) being rushed to the hospital. He then reminisces about his happy-go-lucky past — how he, as a child, became friends with fellow orphan Tiger (Sundeep Kishan), how he met the love of his life Ganga (Seerat Kapoor) and how things brought him to where he is right now. The movie then cuts to the present with his friend Tiger avenging the harm inflicting on Vishnu in a case of an attempted honour killing. And of course, the movie has a happy ending with the couple being re-united by Tiger.

MOVIE REVIEW:The way the screenplay goes, it seems as if Sundeep Kishan has very little to do with the story except being Rahul Ravindran’s bodyguard and avenger. He does nothing except fight and release outbursts of punchline-filled dialogues. Rahul Ravindran gives his trademark performance with his standard angst and shock expressions throughout the movie; barring the few scenes when he is wooing the Seerat Kapoor. The same can be said about Seerat Kapoor; who does nothing more than what every female lead does in a mass entertainer — smile, get angry, cry and hug. Rahul woos Seerat in the stereotypical stalk-till-we-get-together style and the chemistry between the two is lost somewhere in the first 40 minutes of the film.
The saving grace of the film is the comedy. The comedians Thagubothu Ramesh, Chitram Seenu, Satya, Raghu and Fish Venkat who deliver slapstick comedy scenes that ensure laughter and some scenes with the baddies which are total rib-ticklers, (spoiler) like the scene where the henchman who is supposed to kill Rahul’s character is the one who ends up donating blood to him.
The only convincing actor in the movie is perhaps Bobby Parvez, the Bollywood actor who plays Seerat Kapoor’s father.
The other good thing about the movie is the intention to raise awareness on honour killing. Rest of the plot gives the audience a Deja vu of Arya 2. The first half is a painfully long build up to the main story and the second half has nothing but fights and forced realizations. Music by SS Thaman is mediocre at best. The first song Samayya, is worth listening to. All the other songs, like Vaddura Mama and Hey Tiger are bland.
